Our Ultrasound services provide safe, non-invasive diagnostic imaging using advanced soundwave technology to examine specific areas of concern throughout your body.

What’s included?
Ultrasound offers real-time imaging without radiation exposure, making it ideal for assessing organs, blood flow, soft tissues, joints, and reproductive structures with exceptional clarity and precision.
Our comprehensive range includes specialised examinations for musculoskeletal conditions, thyroid assessment, abdominal organs, pelvic structures, vascular studies, and soft tissue evaluation.
Whether investigating symptoms like lumps and bumps, joint pain, or monitoring existing conditions, each examination is tailored to provide accurate diagnosis in a comfortable, efficient appointment.
All ultrasound examinations are performed at our modern Edgbaston facility, using state-of-the-art equipment operated by experienced sonographers who ensure optimal image quality whilst maintaining your comfort throughout the procedure.
Our service includes specialised Doppler studies for blood flow assessment and detailed pelvic examinations using appropriate techniques when clinically indicated.
Each examination is competitively priced at £220 regardless of the area being assessed, providing excellent value for comprehensive diagnostic imaging.
Following your scan, specialist radiologists provide detailed reports explaining findings and recommendations, ensuring you receive accurate diagnosis and appropriate guidance for any follow-up care that may be required.
The following ultrasound scans are available: abdomen, doppler abdomen, limb or joint, male genitalia, musculoskeletal (one part or two parts), neck, soft tissue/tendon, thyroid, and pelvis (transvaginal or transrectal).
An ultrasound scan obtains a picture of the inside of the body without using x-rays.
High frequency sound waves are passed through the skin, and the returning echoes form a picture on the screen.
The examination is performed by a Radiologist (a Doctor specialising in X-rays and ultrasound) or a Sonographer (a Radiographer specialising in ultrasound) with an Ultrasound Assistant.
Some cold gel will be placed on the area and a small hand held instrument will be moved across it to obtain the images.
The examination usually takes just 15–20 minutes, and is a fairly quick and simple investigation. The results are available rapidly for your doctor.
The examination should be completely painless. You may experience a small amount of pressure from the probe which helps us to get better pictures.
There are no known risks to having an ultrasound scan when performed by a trained operator. Afterwards you should be able to return home or back to work as normal.
The results will be sent to the doctor who referred you.
The steps you will take to prepare for an ultrasound will depend on the area or organ that is being examined.
For abdomen scans please fast for six hours before your ultrasound scan appointment. You can only drink clear fluids. Undigested food and milk can block the sound waves, making it difficult for the sonographer to get a clear picture.
For gynaecological and renal scans please drink a lot of water and to hold your urine so that your bladder is full and better visualised. You will be asked to empty your bladder halfway through the appointment.
