What is Right to Choose?
Right to Choose means that NHS patients based in England have a legal right to choose their mental healthcare provider.
A patient may decide waiting times locally for their ADHD assessment is too long, therefore they can choose alternative providers.
Am I eligible?
We accept ADHD referrals for patients aged 18+.
You may not be eligible to choose your provider in some situations — the NHS has guidance on who this applies to.
How do I get referred to Modality LLP?

Visit your GP, discuss Modality LLP as an option, and request that they complete a referral to Modality LLP.
Your GP sends the referral
The referral should be emailed to m85178.modality.adhd@nhs.net.
Send emailOnce accepted, you will be contacted for additional information about your condition and placed on a waiting list for an assessment appointment.
Your ADHD assessment
Your initial assessment will be with one of our consultant psychiatrists, all of whom have extensive experience in diagnosing and managing ADHD.
The Modality LLP ADHD pathway
What happens at each stage, from referral to ongoing care.
Stage 1
We receive your referral
- Our team will contact you directly
- We’ll send you links to questionnaires — these must be completed before we can arrange your diagnostic appointment
- Once the questionnaires are received you will be booked in for your appointment
Stage 2
Your diagnostic appointment
- A virtual appointment with one of our consultant psychiatrists
- If diagnosed, treatment options will be discussed in detail
- If medication is right for you, treatment will begin
- With our electronic prescription service, your medication will reach you conveniently
Stage 3
Medication titration (if applicable)
- Once you have been assessed, you will move on to the titration stage
- Our team will support you with a medication review to establish the dosage that suits you
Stage 4
Shared care (if applicable)
- Once your dosage is stabilised our team will inform your GP practice
- You will then be discharged back to your GP practice who will monitor you regularly and discuss your medication
- Our service will continue to maintain shared care alongside your GP

A range of medications if appropriate, prescribed and reviewed by our experienced clinical team.
Psychosocial support
Involving the principles of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) with our team of Psychologists.
